Week 3 | Testing the Waters

This week gets personal. Immediately after the feeding of the 5,000, Jesus sends His disciples out on the lake where he will catch up to them by walking on water. May Peter’s bold personal prayer of faith “Lord if it’s you…” be our prayer in these important days of overcoming our fear of stepping out in faith to trust the Lord. It would seem the context of “theophany” passing by reality of God’s manifested presence is worth exploring here. Some thoughts of reflection: Do you think Peter ever regretted his decision to step out? How about those that stayed in the boat? How about us? Are we going to simply watch others step out in faith in the coming days or are we all going to join Jesus out on the water to see what is possible? As it’s been said, “If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat!” So may it be!
